SPIE logo Boston Fusion is pleased to announce that Dr. Onur Ozdemir has been invited to present a paper at the 2015 SPIE DSS (Defense, Security, and Sensing) Conference on Multisensor, Multisource Information Fusion: Architectures, Algorithms, and Applications. The paper, entitled Uncertainty Characterization Using Copulas for Classification, was co-authored by Sora Choi (Syracuse Univ.), Thomas G. Allen (Boston Fusion), and Prof. Pramod K. Varshney (Syracuse Univ.). The paper addresses the problem of characterizing uncertainty for multisensor data fusion in a classification problem. Dr. Ozdemir will present a novel approach to solve this problem based on the statistical theory of copulas. Early results show that the proposed framework can capture the uncertainties more accurately than current state of the practice, and lead to robust and improved classfication performance compared to traditional classifiers. The conference is being held 20-24 April, 2015, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD.

All of us at Boston Fusion extend our deepest condolences to the victims of the tragic events that took place during both the 2013 Boston Marathon and the ensuing investigation. Our hearts and prayers go out to all who were traumatized by these events.

Two Boston Fusion team members were racing in this year’s Marathon in support of charity, and experienced first-hand the fear and devastation wrought by these acts. We are incredibly grateful that our employees, and their family and friends, all escaped injury. Despite circumstance, we celebrate their incredible accomplishment, and all the training and fundraising that brought them there. We are so proud of our employees’ efforts!

Here in Massachusetts, Patriot’s Day is a beloved civic holiday commemorating the battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, which triggered the start of the Revolutionary War. On this day, we are reminded of those who bravely fought for our nation’s independence. Patriot’s Day coincides with Boston Marathon, and is a day of celebration shared with tourists and athletes from all over the world. In the wake of last week’s despicable acts of terror, we are thankful for those who are still fighting for our freedom every day, and for the many brave acts of law enforcement and first responders.

As we look to the future, each of us feels a responsibility to help. Boston Fusion stands together with the City of Boston, the Town of Watertown, and the United States as we continue to work to secure the future safety and freedom of our great nation.
