Principal Research Scientist

Job Title: Principal Research Scientist

BOSTON FUSION is seeking a world-class principal research scientist with at least 15 years of professional experience to advance the state of the art in at least one of these areas: quantum computing, cyber awareness, machine learning, knowledge discovery, or multi-source data fusion. This position will have a specific emphasis on one or more of the following application areas: multimodal sensor fusion, graph analytics, cyber-security, information theory, image understanding, natural language understanding, autonomous reasoning, and probabilistic modeling. In this senior position, you will be part of a team of high-achieving researchers formulating creative solutions to challenging problems while providing meaningful and useful results for our customers. You will perform pure and applied academic-level research (e.g., proposals, white papers) and will occasionally travel to attend and present at customer meetings and essential industry conferences. Successful candidates will be expected to have demonstrated the ability to take a leadership role in shaping future opportunities and in writing winning proposals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading small teams researching, developing, implementing, testing, and transitioning technical solutions in support of Boston Fusion’s contracts

  • Serve as a principal investigator, leading technical teams to develop innovative concepts and translate them into technical solutions

  • Identify new business development opportunities and write winning proposals

  • Publish papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences

Minimum Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. in computer science, natural science, mathematics, engineering, or related fields and 15 or more years of professional research experience

  • Strong programming skills in at least one of the following languages: R, Python, or C++

  • Substantial research experience documented with publications

  • Strong mathematical knowledge, including Bayesian statistics, probabilistic models, linear algebra, and graph theory

  • Experience as principal investigator on DARPA, IARPA, AFRL, ONR or ARL research projects

  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD Security Clearance
